The DREADED post....

It is with a heavy heart that Thrifty Cottage Mom and I have to "hang up the apron" on our lovely booth, THE PORCH. Unfortunately, we just don't have the time right now to do with it what we had planned. At least we hung in there for 8 months, right?! Even if we did profit...like...$1.07 when it's all said and done ;o) I absolutely do not regret giving it a go. I love Through the Garden Gate and it was fun having a project to share with TCM...just wish there was more time in a day!
So, for January, everything is 50% off! Maybe someday we'll be able to get back into it. Right now there is just too much going on with working while studying for my psyc. degree, the kids' activities and...well...life. Someday...
*sniff sniff getting tissues now*

Hi Carmen,

This is BellaMomma (Kim's Mom). I am so sad to hear this and I know BellaDella will also be very sad.

We all want to do so much, but family and other endevors need your time at this moment. Never be sorry for what you guys have done, because I think ya'll have done one remarkable job. Another time another day.

You know, I could always come up there and run it for you. LOL. I come very very cheap.

May your dream come true...that you will one day own your farm in the country. Most of all I hope it will have that wonderful country store that BellaDella was so blessed to find. Let me know when you get that farm and we will go out and get you a pair of bib overalls, a few chickens, goat and whatever else you have on your dream wish list.

Take care and Well Wishes To You and Your Family For A Wonderful New Year. May you be Blessed With Much Happiness, Good Health, Lots of Laughter and Special Dream Dust To Sprinkle Over Your Dreams!!!!

Hugs,
Janice

So sad to hear it'll be on a back burner. I've been meaning to meander on down, so this might be my kick in the pants I need. Maybe I'll come down Sunday! What's a 2-hour drive? I'll hit Slindy's, too, on your recommendation.

Oh no. I am so sorry to hear it. I admire you guys so much for giving it a try. I know it was a lot of work and lord knows you have a lot going on. I will have to make a visit before it closes. Perhaps you can meet me there. I want that red table in the picture!

Lots of love,
Kim

Oh no, is right! (As I reach for my tissues...). But I *totally* hear you...it's rough juggling everything (and I don't even have kids! :-) Maybe you can rent a table/booth at local flea markets as time allows? Then you only need to commit to a couple of days a year. You just have such a good eye for good stuff, I'd had to see you not use it! You could even host house parties, a la Tupperware...but with cool vintage stuff. Thrifty Cottage Girls Nights! (Can you tell I want to be your marketing manager, LOL?!).

Please do keep your business simmering on the back burner...I think you can morph it into something that works for you in the not-too-distant future. And good luck!

:-) Laura

Oh, this is such SAD news Carmen:( "The Porch" was SOOO pretty!

I really like Laura's idea of doing Thrifty Cottage Home Parties! That would give you and TCM another project that you could do together:)

Lunch soon?

What a shame that you have to close. Hopefully someday you can reopen and work together on this poject once more.
However, they say as one door closes another opens so I ope the new door opens onto something lovely for you both.

Hello Carmen,
So sorry to see that you're closing down your little store. I'm sure you'll still be searching out garage sales for wonderful treasures. You find the most amazing goodies!
Smiles,
Carol

Hi Carmen, my name is Elizabeth and i just came across your blog. I'm sorry to hear about your store it looked lovely.

We have a lot in common as I adore thrifting, making things beautiful, collecting vintage aprons (oh my gosh i have a ton!)etc. My family and I live on a horse ranch where we board horses, give lessons etc, I simply love it although business is slow. Stop by my blog and see me sometime. (It's fairly new, but I did manage to post some Christmas and fall pics) Have a great week.
