Fried Green Tomatoes

I LOVE me some fried green tomatos! Thanks to my sis-in-law who grew them, I had some big ones this past weekend at the river. I have found that people have different ways of making them, but I like to dip them in egg, corn meal or flour, back in the egg and the corn meal or flour and them fry them up in veg. oil. I've also tried chicken breader mix, but it's a little too peppery for my taste. I layer them on paper towels as for a few mins. as I take them out and then I douse them in salt and eat'em hot. I've also had them with garlic aioli and that's de-lish. And I had someone tell me this past weekend that they eat them with confectioner's sugar on top.
Yummy!
Mom found the apron at a church yard sale last year. It's her river apron and it was either .10 or .25!

Let me know your version of fried green tomatoes!

I don't think I've ever made fried green tomatoes, and I'm certainly a southern girl. Maybe I'm too lazy for all the dipping and re-dipping...hmmmm. You made them look so good. My Paw-Paw had me convinced as a child that tomatoes were dessert. He would slice them thin and put sugar on them, and we would eat a bowl of them like strawberries. I haven't thought of that in a long time. :)

Melony, that's a sweet memory. I haven't tried tomatoes with sugar, but I will. Also, I had a PawPaw and my girls call my dad PawPaw, although now it's turned more into Papa as they get older. You don't see that name often. Thanks for visiting!

I love fried tomatoes, I eat them green, orange or red. I like them all. I just dip them in salt and peppered combination of flour and a little corn meal. I fry them in olive oil. I am gonna try dipping them in egg like you have here, I do my eggplant that way.
Love your blog,
Betsy
