Look at my new Shabbily Beautiful Dresser!

I have so many ideas for posts that I just haven't gotten around to posting, but I had to sneak this in today because I am just so excited about it! I saw this dresser from across the room at a fabulous church yardsale on Saturday and decided that I had to have it. As I was admiring it, along with my girls, a nice man came over and said, "I think you need that for $10.". It originally said $15, and I said, "SOLD!".

It has missing knobs, but I just happen to have found a bag of knobs at another yardsale during the summer for $1 that match. It's just a great sturdy and BIG dresser, perfect for my bedroom just the way it is...no painting involved, for a change! I also got a wash stand for $3 that I'll show you later!

Ten Dollars?!?! WooHoo!

p.s. Here's a shout-out to my parents for loading it and bringing it home for me while the kiddos and I were at my husband's firehouse fall festival!

p.s.s. I just realized that this is my 50th post! Yay to me for making it this long! Thanks to all of you in blogland for taking a lil' time out of your busy schedules for me!

All Hollow's Eve is very near! Decorations on a (tiny) budget...

Oh, how I LOVE Halloween decorations more than any other! I am so lucky to be able to drool over so many awesome (or add your own very positive adjective here) blogs with so many fabulous ideas on fall decorating! I have been inspired by so many and I wish that I could list all of them, but right now, I'm going to list my top 3 fall-inspired blogs.

#1 would definitely have to be Cherry's Jubilee

and there are so many more!
These girls all inspired me to get a little creative in the Halloween decor department and so...
I showed you this picture before...
and this pic of things found at Goodwill... And I started my Halloween projects weeks ago, but finally just got around to finishing, as goes most of the things around my house these days.
So, I used the wonderful $6 "glass bell jar-like thing on a pedestal" as my centerpiece with a real little white punkin' in it along with some faux berries that were on sale for $4 (and I got way more than needed...maybe I'll add some to my door decor). I painted the two .85 candlesticks black (I used a black textured spray paint) and glued the faux berries and faux punkins' onto the top (so they'll be easy to put out every year). This three tiered pillar stand was $2.25 and was a brownish color. I also spray-painted this with the black textured spray paint and glued the faux berries and punkins' on.
I bought a wonderful Halloween chip-board/paper/sticker kit from, where else, but Goodwill for $5. I thought that was a lil' high, but found that the materials go a long way! The tray was a dingy metal tray that I found at a yard sale for $1, I spray painted it with the same textured black spray paint (love the texture) and thought it would work well with a lil' vignette I had going on. I found the $1 frames from Walmart, used the aforementioned papers to make the frames into plaques, bought the wooden 3-D letters for .30 each at Ben Franklin, covered the letters with the paper and added the stickers. I inked the edges of the letters so the wood wouldn't show and glued the letters with Super Tape to the "plaques", added the real gourds and voila. Here I used the same paper as above, a frame from the $1 store (painted black), and a large white wooden "H" (painted black, of course) that I had bought long ago for .50 and didn't know what to do with. Put it all together in about 5 minutes.
Here I used a purple (painted black) tin tile frame from the $1 store and added ephemera that I bought awhile back along with the same paper and stickers.
It's just something about homemade decorations that make them so much more enjoyable to look at!Happy Halloween decorating y'all!

Another great church sale last weekend...and $34 later

Well, boy were there A LOT of yard sales last weekend! I only went to 3 because, my daughter had a soccer game and then we had a wedding to go to, but I defnitely made out like a bandit! I first went to a church down the road from me that I went to in the spring and had such good luck...remember this post?
This is where I found the storage bench (that I will paint white and keep on my porch for outdoor toys) for $5.00!!!! Then I found the cute white wooden bin that was $5.00 and also is to be used for toys on the porch.
The teal GE fan was $2.00 at another sale (it works!), the salt and pepper shaker sets were all .50 at a different sale and the nice man gave my girls the very unique vintage basket purse with veggies all over it...they were thrilled! Back to the church sale, the lamp was $3.00, birdhouse was $1.00, tin planter .10, and the spools of lace were .50.
My favorite, the very old chenille and quilted bears were $3.00-$3.50 each! I'm keeping one of these...the bigger quilted bear that is the oldest. The glass cake plate was $1.00, glass frog/vase $1.00, leaf embroidered tablecloth .25, 2 embroidered dresser scarves .25 each, orange crocheted dresser scarf .25, pile of cute fabric quarters were .25. and the mystery bride in the beautiful swivel frame was $1.00!

The like new set of pink shabby chic sheets was $1.00, the very old framed mirror was $1.00.There's the veggie basket purse again ;o) The Scooby Doo Playstation 2 game was .25, the vintage dresser set was .25 as well. This dress for my oldest was .25!
And the Gymboree dress for my youngest, adorable shoes, and teal polo were each .25!Adorable and in the shop!A keeper!I never would have imagined that I'd find all of this within three sales! And my grand total was $34.00! Wanna go thrifting with me?!
